Where's Waldo?

Yes, I am still here - just miserably behind in my blogging. I write multiple blog posts in my head during the wee morning hours, and I have wondrous creative thoughts while I'm changing diapers or nuking a hot dog.

So, what is keeping me so busy? I'm glad you asked.

As most of you know, after graduating from college, I attended law school and graduated in 2003. Bob and I got married that summer and then I began working as a prosecutor in a big city in Virginia. I had an awesome office with big windows overlooking the city. I wore my beautiful business suits and fancy shoes. I carried an attache case and wore perfume.

Then I became a mom. My office is now tucked into the corner of the playroom. I wear t-shirts from my college days, mismatched socks, carry a diaper bag, and smell like green beans.

But, did I mention that I am still a practicing attorney? After my husband took his new job in our little town, I quit my job as a prosecutor and began working for an appellate judge. When I found out I was pregnant with Robbie, we were able to arrange it so I could work from home. This opportunity was definitely God-sent and has been a major blessing! When I did need to go into the office, Robbie went with me!

I was able to manage everything with Robbie, and then with Eveley. But now that I am juggling 2 little monkeys, it "ain't so easy"! So, the time has come for me to clean out my desk - pack up my law books and replace them with coloring books and play-doh.

And, I must say, I am absolutely ecstatic! The Lord has given me complete peace that this is His timing and my husband has been wonderfully supportive. My last day will be July 31.

I don't believe this is the death of my legal career or that my legal education will no longer be of any use. In fact, I am sure my children (and husband, on occasion) will be the recipient of my amazing cross examination skills and investigative techniques.

People now ask me, "Well, what are you going to do now with all your time?" Seriously? Are you kidding me? On top of all the mundane things that go into running a home and a family, I plan to schedule multiple playdates, trips to the park, museum tours, zoo visits, roadtrips to see family and friends, and -- oh yeah -- some blogging time!

The monkeys approve!

Awesome! I'm so excited for you! I think life will be much more relaxing for you as a mom. When there is downtime you can read a magazine or take a long bath (or clean the house, ha). Miss ya! Jenna

I am SO happy for you. While there is no 'degree' for motherhood it is the highest career you could choose to go 'full time' in! You, your kids and hubby will ALL be better happier for the choice to give it your full attention :)
